Dear Headmaster:
I have recieved my school letter and was extremely pleased to learn that I have been selected as one of Gryffindor's Prefects. I am honored and flattered, sir, and eager to do my best at the job.
However, it has come to my attention that the Prefect's badge is crafted either of a silver alloy, or is coated in silver. As you know, I am highly allergic to the metal due to my condition, and I would like to know if there is some treatment or spell that can be applied to the badge so that I may still wear it.
Again, thank you very much for the honor.
All the best,
Remus J. Lupin
Mr. Lupin,
Our apologies for the inconveniance. Enclosed is a specially prepared badge, crafted with no silver. You may return the original badge upon the start of term.
M. McGonagall, Deputy Headmistress;
A. P. W. B. Dumbledore, Headmaster.
[The new badge has a faint gold gleam to it, and is cool to the touch. The old one burned Remus' fingers, and sat wrapped in a handkerchief at the bottom of Remus' duffle bag.]
