[For Reid] Re-X-Aminations

Oct 22, 2009 20:17

I should've made this appointment the day I showed up, but the thing about being suicidal is... Well, you don't tend to make a lot of decisions that are in your best interests. Not that I needed that as an excuse to begin with -- I can count on one hand the number of good decisions I've made in my life, though I'm admittedly hard pressed to come up ( Read more... )

The sound makes Reid startle, less because it's unexpected or loud, but rather because of all of the anticipation that's proceeded it. Despite the fact that Reid is very well qualified to be taking this case, it's still a little unnerving to think about: He's going to be Multiple Man's therapist. Of course, he's also Delirium's therapist, so it's all about perspective.

"Hey, hello," Reid says, immediately out of his chair and stepping over to the door, skinny arm extended to shake hands. "Dr. Spencer Reid. You're Jamie." As if there's any mistaking him.

For the briefest of seconds Jamie merely looked at Reid with a critical eye -- an old detective's habit that he'd picked up over the years, partly because it looked impressive, but mostly because it generally proved useful. In this case, it told him two things. One: his new therapist was a character from a relatively successful CBS procedural drama, and two: if it ever came down to it -- though he hoped it wouldn't, for obvious reasons -- Jamie could easily take him in a fight.

Judging a book by its cover can have disastrous results, sure... But that doesn't mean that you'll come away from it completely unenlightened. And I gotta admit, at 6'6" and 380 lbs, Doc Samson is a helluva lot more imposing than this guy, who pretty much looks like a strong wind might blow him over. Even Xavier's more intimidating... Though that has little to do with his physical prowess and everything to do with the fact that he can make you regret you were ever born with a simple thought."The original," he confirmed with a weary smile, nodding once as he ( ... )

"It's good to finally meet you. Really good," Reid begins, just a little awkward, and then motions Jamie in as he moves to close the door behind him. After he's cleared his throat, he seems a bit more confident; he resumes his seat and indicates the other chair.

"Please, have a seat, and tell me why you're here today."

Somewhat reluctantly, Jamie made his way over to the chair. He had a feeling he'd be up again soon enough to pace. He never could sit still for long -- he got too antsy. Leaning forward, he rested his elbows against his knees, hands clasped together in an effort to quell his nerves.

"Right," he sighed, looking up at Reid from under his eyebrows. It was a simple question, if a little overwhelming. Jamie fidgeted in his seat. "Right," he said again, more certain. "Well... I guess I'll start with the most pertinent reason: I tried to drown myself last month."
