Clothes and usernames.
I know you’re all groaning already, but I promise this won’t be as bad as you think it’s going to be.
!!!Boring psychology content!!!

So true about the names, and the clothing. I chose a number of screen names when I first went online, through dear old AOL, and quickly learned that the 'naughty' one attracted a LOT of male chatters, where the others were my 'general social' names. Gender neutral, unlike my current moniker.
Unless you're a multiple personality, or an accomplished actor, figure out a screen name that says a little about you, but doesn't scream 'desperate loser' or give a false impression of your personality. After all, the ultimate aim of talking to the opposite sex online is eventually to date in real life, isn't it? And if that is so, why conceal or lie about yourself? It's futile.

And I totally agree with the lying. Though I suspect a lot of people use the internet to be someone else without the intention of ever ruining that fantasy--thus why a lot of people lie.
This journal isn't really for those kinds of people though.

Generally if you are trying to get the attention of women who have a higher level of education, it’s going to become more of an issue. However if you’re not anal about dating ‘smart girls’ you’ll easily be able to find someone with equally bad spelling and grammar who doesn’t mind how you type in the slightest.
Also, different people are attracted to different types of username. I’m not saying any ‘type’ of name is more or less effective. I’m saying you should customize your name for the type of person you are hoping to attract.
I prefer gender neutral names personally. However what I prefer and what the kind of women you’re attracted to prefer are probably very different things.
Know your quarry. Arm yourself accordingly.
