Underscores

In the past sometimes, I've seen links like http://lj_everywhere.livejournal.com . Unfortunately, some ISP/proxy/service combinations don't allow this kind of link. More geekery: hyphens aren't allowed at the beginning or end of a domain name component, so people with names such as _foo or bar_ or __sexy_lover__ are out of luck and will not be able to use "vanity" subdomain names -- at least, not reliably.

But then, people with usernames such as __sexy_lover__ should just be shot anyway.
