The ZIP Code Problem

One of the more common undocumented problems we deal with in G/Unk involves ZIP codes. Often, when an American user goes to change their location in their profile, they find that it keeps reverting back to the old town name. This is not a caching problem, which is why these requests should be left in G/Unk, but one that has everything to do with ( Read more... )

Very interesting.

I live in one of those "preferred" areas. My ZIP comes up as, depending on the day it seems, either Dayton or Beavercreek, Ohio... when in fact I live in Kettering. The funny part is, although I live in Kettering my mail comes from and gets picked up from Centerville, Ohio.

sometimes I just dont know where I live haha

I really enjoyed reading this post. That sounds kind of wrong that it was *that* interesting, but it was. Did you know all of that information previously, or did you research some of it?

Most of it I knew. For the Kentucky example, I looked for an example of a preferred/alternate ZIP code on-line. Otherwise, it's stuff I've just committed to memory along the way. (Hi, I memorize almanacs and other reference books.)
