The scene: Sirius, a fair bit of time after escaping Azkaban, and under Molly's strict diet regimen, had returned to a healthy weight. In a moment of weakness, he'd relented to Ginny's repeated requests to test out a (mild) tanning spell, and was shocked (and pleased) with the results.

After admiring himself at length in the mirror (it had been a long time since he looked this good, after all, and the mirror had egged him on) he dared to take a few minutes to himself.

He took himself in hand (so to speak) and let his eyes close, mind drifting back to a day at Hogwart's years ago.

James had breezed into the common room with that look on his face. He'd run up the stairs and Sirius knew at once he'd be returning with his cloak.

Excusing himself, Sirius left and waited in an alcove down the corridor.

When James approached, he jumped out. "Okay, Potter, what gives?"

"The prefects get their own bathroom," he said.

Sirius rolled his eyes. "And this is important whyJames pulled out his invisibility cloak and smirked, his eyes ( ... )
