Extra Credit

I've had an idea niggling away at my brain. There are so many wonderful people participating in the Project of Doom from all over the world that I would like a special way to document your participation. It's a little bit selfish, but if you like, you can think of it as your "payment" for participation in the PoD.

What is this Herculean task I have for you?

I would love a signature block from each person that is participating in the Project of Doom. These blocks would all go in one quilt as a tribute to the wonderful quilting community we've built! This project has been so amazing and special for me that I would love to complete the PoD Signature Quilt before 2012 so that I can show it in my local quilt guild's show next year, including the story of the PoD.

And yes, this is just for me, see...selfish! I will, however, donate $1 to the Red Cross for each person that sends a block by December 1, 2011, so while you're sharing a block with me for the posterity of the PoD, you'll also be helping others. It's a win-win situation, really!

The instructions are simple:

Print out this pattern (also available as traditionally pieced). Piece the pattern using your PoD background fabric for the center (it's a small piece and should not detract from what you need for the project). Use scraps from your PoD blocks for the corners.

Add your name to the background fabric in the center. You can embroider (hand or machine), stencil, use fabric pens or any other permanent technique. The final look is up to you!

When completed, you'll have a 7" (7.5" unfinished) block. Please leave the paper on if possible.

When you're done, fold your block in half, paper-side out and place it in an envelope to mail to me any time before the end of the Project of Doom.

My mailing address is on the pattern. If you'd like for me to let you know when I receive your block, please include your email address. I will also post the blocks here to hp_paperpiecing .

Also? Thank you. Thank you for participating in the PoD and thank you for sharing your time with me each week. Thank you for your enthusiasm and encouragement and, preemptively, thank you for your signature block!
