Nigel sat squirming in his seat nervously as he waited to receive his matches. He didn't want to have to do a transfiguration spell in front of all of these other kids!!! What if he messed up (which was highly likely) and made a huge fool of himself (which was also highly likely).
[OOC: You had to pick matches XD You know that no matter what Nigel+Matches=FIRE right XD;;;]

And then the professor announced that they'd be given matches. Marius's gaze slid to Nigel and he wondered if he'd have enough time to owl his Mother about what kind of funeral he'd prefer. "Do try to be careful," he whispered to Nigel, and started furiously composing his letter while waiting for that other Weasley kid to bring over what he was sure would be the obejcts of his demise.

He hunkered down in his chair, trying to make himself look as small as possible. Maybe if he laid low he wouldn't have to do anything.

But listening to him now, Al couldn't help but feel a surge of pride. He was really doing alright, and though he'd never met them, he just knew that Teddy's parents would be so proud ( ... )

Kat regarded her match skeptically. At least it vaguely had the shape of a needle, right? So that was a start? But needles were metal. Matches were wood. How on earth did one become the other?
Oh, right. Magic.
She consulted her book for the appropriate wand motion and word, but no way was she going first. Someone else was going to have to kick them off.

She looked at her book, then at the match Al had given her. She glanced up at Teddy, who was smiling down at her, raised her wand and cleared her throat. A few others turned to look at the noise, and Rose began the incantation.

No, he thought. They probably don't.
Pulling his attention away from Prof. Lupin's (neon) hair, Scorpius concentrated on the match that Al had given him instead. He picked it up from his desk and examined it carefully, scrutinizing the imperfections in the sliver of wood and the irregularities in the red and white blob on the end. Ignoring a niggling question (Why are we using Muggle tools in our first magic class??), he replaced the match on his desk and stared at it while he flicked his wand.
A silver match.
Hmm. Not quite.
