Rushing to the Main hall after commenting in her journal back to Oscar, Ally panted a little as she sat down in the empty seat across from him. Since it wasn't meal time the Main hall was converted to a study area as it is every day. Panting a little she laid her head on her folded arms after putting down her potions book.

"Wha- haa..happened?"

"well.." Oscar's expression was slightly pained, and his face was a bit paler than usual. "Nothing.. too terrible. Nothing dangerous, I mean.." He bit his lip.

"Oh that's good...I'm happy to hea--" She stopped talking and cocked her eyebrow. "...What's wrong then?"

"Well I um." Oscar took a deep breath, steadying himself. "I was experimenting with a counter for the privacy charm on the journals and I. Um. May have seen something that... that neither of us wanted me to see." He didn't meet her eyes.

Her smile faded as her eyes widened. "...It was my journal you were practicing on... wasn't it?"

"I haven't made any private entries, myself," Oscar explained, his voice plaintive. "You were the logical choice - I figured if I saw something, you'd understand, it was for academic purposes... I didn't think..." He trailed off, looking a bit green.

Her pale skin was becoming even more pale as the realization hit her like a ton of bricks. "Oh god.. Oh! How much. How much did you read?!"

"Well I- I stopped as soon as I realized- but the first line was.. enough," Oscar stammered, wincing as he finished.

Throwing her hands over her face she sunk down in her chair more. "This isn't happening.. " Her face was pale beside the sudden flush of color to her cheeks. He knew! He KNEW about her crush on James!

"Um." Oscar chewed at his lip helplessly. "I... I'm not going to tell him, if that's what you're worried about."

Peeking between her fingers, her eyes looked a little watery. "...Are you serious? Will you promise? Because he already doesn't like me very much.. I bet he'd tease me horribly if he knew.."

"Merlin, why would I tell him? The last thing James needs is something else to boost his ego. Besides, he doesn't deserve to know." Oscar grimaced. "Honestly, he's not mature enough to handle things like crushes. I hate to be discouraging, but.." he spread his hands innocently. "You won't be getting anything from James any time soon, if I know him at all."

She let out a deep breath that she had stored in her lungs. She was unaware that she was even holding it. Shaking her head vigorously before nodding. "Thank you Oscar! I don't.. expect anything actually." She fidgeted in her seat. "I can't help who I like, yanno?" She looked at him with pleading eyes. Maybe he was smart enough to understand? Unlike those other stupid boys.

"Yeah, I know," Oscar grinned, a bit ruefully. "But of course I won't tell. We may be a bit crazy, but you can trust a Gryffindor to keep secrets."

"Thank you so much!" She threw her arms over the table, half leaning herself, and hugged him shortly. "It means the world to me that you'll keep that to yourself!"

Oscar blushed awkwardly, not quite knowing how to react. "It's nothing," he muttered, "I shouldn't have looked anyway, it's the least I could do.."

Backing off she muttered a few 'sorry's for invading his space and wiped her eyes. "I totally forgive you since you're going to not tell anyone. Just let me know next time you want to practice on it.. So I can write you a special page that has nothing to do with James." She smiled.

The smirk that flitted across Oscar's face probably reminded Ally of the company he kept. "Oh, that won't be necessary," he said smoothly. "I don't need any more practice. I'm just waiting for James to make a private entry, now!" His laugh was a bit foreboding.

"Oh ho. Make him think no one can crack it, because honestly that would be beautiful." She smirked as well and chuckled a little. "I mean really, it isn't like I'd do anything with it. I'd just like to read it." She shrugs and winks. "However I don't think he'd be so lucky with you reading it heh."

Oscar grinned. "If I find anything interesting, I'll be sure to let you know. And for that, we'll keep this matter between us, eh? Can't have everyone knowing I can get around our supposed 'privacy' spell."

"What? You can get around it? Rubbish, I know no such information." Smiling she gathered her things and stood up. "You kept my secret, I'll keep yours."

"It's a deal," Oscar agreed, standing as well. "I guess I'll see you in class, then?"

"Of course." She waved a bit and was on her way, a little bit of the weight on her shoulders lifted knowing both someone knew and wouldn't tell -- and that someone happened to be James best friend. She didn't mean to think like a Slytherin, but maybe that would come in handy later.
