Forgive me if this has been asked before, I searched through the memories thinking I'd seen it, but...couldn't find it! I was wondering if there was a basic layout to homes that is common in Britain. I would love it if there was a website that anyone knows of that presented some various layouts.
I mean, are foyers common? How are sitting rooms, living rooms, dining rooms, kitchens, bedrooms, and bathrooms usually laid out? Do kitchens often (ever) have islands in them? Are there generally separate dining rooms and breakfast nooks; do a lot of homes just have tables in the kitchens to eat at? Are closets common in bedrooms and what about linen closets in the bathrooms or hallways and pantries in the kitchens, dining room, or hallways? Do you have televisions in living rooms with couches and lounges etc or are separate game rooms or entertainment rooms or something common? What about dens and/or libraries?
I feel kind of silly asking this; I know it's probably a lot like America where there is no basic layout per se, but I've been a bit worried about taking things like this for granted since reading that the loo is often separate from the bathroom. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
