This chapter absolutely blew my mind the first time around. Aberforth! All this time! So many hints! "Merely friendly with the local barmen", Dumbledore, you sly dog! Really makes me wonder about their relationship later in life though. Obviously Aberforth still resented Albus for what happened, but we know that they talked, and I really want to know how those conversations went. And also I really want to know what the deal is with Aberforth and goats.
OK, so I looked up the goat thing. The goat is a symbol of practical wisdom and an emblem of a man who wins victories through diplomatic means, rather than by force. It may also represent one who is willing to work hard for high honors. The goat was associated with Christ, since both were partial to high places and had sharp eyes. A lot of this sounds like Albus, no? So maybe the brothers are more similar than we are led to believe. The diplomacy rather than force thing seems unlike Aberforth, given that he was prepared to take Slytherin kids hostage, something Albus never would've done. But it could be indicative of his relationship with Ariana, as we know he was the one who could most easily persuade her. None of this could be relevant, of course, but I believe that nothing is superfluous when it comes to JKR. ;)
Over the past year, Harry’s gotten a pretty good idea that there was more to the story of Albus Dumbledore than he once thought. And as Aberforth’s story comes spilling out, in some ways the final vestiges of Harry’s idealized vision of his former headmaster can be seen crumbling away. Yet at the same time, Harry immediately remembers Dumbledore’s final hours in the cave, forced to drink a terrible potion and relive his very worst memories - and Harry realizes, in a way Aberforth never could, just how much Dumbledore changed. For while the teenage Dumbledore bore almost no resemblance to a Harry Potter of the same age, Harry can now understand how the adult Dumbledore was very much like him indeed

Thoughts on Abeforth giving in and saying things are too bad So much action right from the start. Seems like the deatheaters need Voldmort there are things just don’t get done. They are over with no real leader taking over. Leads to confusion
Thoughts on Aberforths character in relation to Dumbledore.
How do you feel about Dumbledore affer the story he has told and his friend Grindlewald Thoughts about Dumbledore sisters death Is the tas Dumbldedore wants Harry to do too much for him Thoughts on Neville being the first one they discover in Hogwarts

- Oh goodness, will there be a NYAAAAAAAAH alarm when they arrive in the movie?!
- Aberforth must have seened the place where the Patronus appeared to talk to them.
- Aberforth is a dang good actor.
- I like how the book describes the reflected glasses effect seen in cartoons.
- Debbie Downer has a granddaddy!
- What would a grubby schoolboy look like?
- If Ariana hadn’t died, would Grindelwald have been kicked out for using an Unforgiveable?
- Does Ariana’s painting act like a messaging patronus?
- The Neville has arrived.
