2011 Valentine's Day Exchange - Rules & Info
Not everyone wants to read happy, sappy, fluffy fics around Valentine's Day. Some people like it sad and emo - and as always, we're here to fulfil your angsty needs :)
HP EMOFEST 2011 VALENTINE'S DAY EXCHANGE
What does "emo" mean?
All fics and artworks must have emo elements in them. What does that mean? Simple. Someone has to cry, be depressed, go through a rough time in their life, cheat on their partner, die, deal with loss, or do something else that is intensely emo and causes your reader to shiver and burst into spontaneous tears. Whatever sadness you come up with, we want it! :) Make us suffer with our beloved characters.
The majority of your fic should be angsty or sad but that doesn't mean that hopeful or happy endings are not allowed, especially for the Valentine's Day Exchange. On the contrary - both sad and happy endings are more than welcome. Or maybe your fic isn't all that sad but you want to surprise us with a particularly sad and nasty ending? Whatever it is you feel inspired to do, we want to see it - but take your fluffy, happy prompts somewhere else because this is all about the emo ;)
What kind of fest is this?
An Anonymous Exchange fest. You fill out the sign-up form with your pairings, likes and dislikes and we will find a (hopefully) perfect assignment for you. Then you will be writing or drawing a gift for your recipient that we will post anonymously. After all the gifts have been posted, the Big Reveal will go up and you can post your fic to your own journal and wherever else you want.
The more pairings and kinks you list, the easier it will be to find someone you'll enjoy writing for. So be specific when you fill out the sign-up form; it'll be easier for all of us :)
What is allowed?
Everything. Het, slash, femmeslash, gen, and every kink. All we ask is that you respect your recipient's wishes and don't use any of their squicks in your fic or art :)
Info for Authors
+ There is no upper word limit but your fics should be longer than 1,000 words.
+ If your fic is longer than 10,000 words, please let us know where to split it as it won't fit into just one LJ post.
+ All fics must be beta-read. If you don't have or can't find a beta, either try hp_betas or wait for the beta post we will make in a few weeks.
+ Fics should be submitted in a .doc, .docx or .rtf file and sent as an attachment to hp_emofestmod@yahoo.com.
+ Title your document USERNAME writing for USERNAME.

Info for Artists
+ Your artwork should be more than a simple sketch and reflect some time and effort.
+ Your art can be a drawing or a comic, traditional or digital, and be accompanied by a drabble. Just be creative! No photomanipulations and stick figures, though ;)
+ Art should be submitted in a .jpg, .png or .gif file and sent to hp_emofestmod@yahoo.com.
+ Title your file USERNAME drawing for USERNAME.

Other important information
+ Our email address is hp_emofest@yahoo.com - use it.
+ Make sure to give us an email address you use regularly. If we don't get a reply within a week, we will have to assume you're dropping out.
+ Don't sign up if you know you won't have the time to complete your fic or art within the given time!
+ People who dropped out of the last round without letting us know are not allowed to sign up for this round.
+ If you have to drop out - no problem, it happens. But let us know. Talk to us. We need to make arrangements to find pinch-hitters, so don't just disappear without a word.
+ Extensions will be granted, but don't keep asking for more time. Our patience will come to an end at some point ;) You have your deadline, so try to finish your fic before it.
