Summary: Some girls wish for diamonds, and roses, and pearls, and gold.
Some girls wish for diamonds, and roses, and pearls, and gold. Some girls wish for something to live for; some girls wish for something to die for. Some girls wish for starlight and wedding nights, and some girls wish for another dawn and leaving it all behind. Some girls wish they fit in.
Luna has never been "some girls." She has her roses, they grow in her garden; thick blooms, heavy-scented, blood red and blush pink and butter yellow and white as snow. She thinks it's cruel to irritate an oyster to get a single pearl, much less whole strands- Luna will never own a pearl necklace. Luna has no use for gold, which costs too much and you have to be careful of when you do more than sit still or read.
Luna has never been "some girls." She lives for the now and for life; for the smell of the grass trimmings and wet earth, for the brush of the breeze, the warmth of the sun, the way Harry smiles and Ron waves and Hermione says hello when they run into each other in Diagon Alley. Luna has no need of things to die for; in the war it was freedom, and now death is not even an option. There is too much to do and to see.
Luna has never been "some girls." She likes the light of her namesake, and she'll never have a wedding night with Ginny but that's okay, because they can make every night a wedding night if they want to. Luna never sees dawn because she's always asleep for it, and she is happy right where she is, curled in Ginny's arms under the blanket.
Luna has never been "some girls." She always has fit in; nobody else noticed, that was the problem. But they seem to now, more or less, so that's alright.

"All you need is love," she singsongs, and Ginny smiles.
