This is so lovely and atmospheric. The first sentence is a stunner and thereafter it's so glittery and sparkly and Chrstmassy and yet so foul underneath. The contrast is really effective, as is the way you heighten the tension by showing us the potential threat to Narcissa's child. The link between Narcissa and Regulus - they both survived the Noble and Most Ancient House of Black - they grew up in madness and decay and they have learned to see it where others do not. is also brilliant.

Wonderful descriptions! And such an insightful look into Regulus' mind. Excellent story! :)

Excellent look inside Regulus's head. I love the metaphor of masks and masquerade. Everyone is so in-character. Really well-done.

What a sharply observed, poignant story! I loved every word, but what especially gets me is the link you observed between Narcissa and Regulus. Their bond makes so much sense here. You made me ache for the boy who is preparing to sacrifice himself without pity or shame. I can feel his regret but also the rightness of his decision. Very well done.
