I'm sold. I never saw the allure of the Mark, but from Barty's perspective and in the beautifully detailed world you painted, I can imagine a great many people taking pride in having that opportunity. Even the name Serpents Peak... perfect. Antonin has a surprising, worldly-wise complexity that really complemented Barty's youthful zeal. Really fabulous story.

Brrrr. What a creepy and vivid scene you have built, from the rotten, tumbledown tower to Barty's desperate neediness.

He was trying to replace family bonds with ones of servitude and Antonin could tell him there and now that it would never be the same...

Poor kid. You have given Dolohov a touch of humanity, though -- at least for a moment he feels a little sympathy for someone else, recognizing that Barty will never find what he's looking for among the Death Eaters.
