Ok so mainly knit using acrylic yarn but I have a friend who is pretty sensitive to it and she really wants me to knit her this pair of wrist warmers in house colors and if I use my normal yarn she won't be able to wear them without getting a nasty itchy rash. So the best kind of yarn for her to wear is cotton. Does anyone have any suggestions on a ( Read more... )

I've used Cascade yarn in the past to knit in all-cotton Hogwarts colors. They don't seem to have the same exact yarn I used anymore, but their newer "Luna" (how appropriate) yarn seems to have a great Hogwarts-friendly color selection. Check it out here: http://www.cascadeyarns.com/search_FiberCotton.asp.

The color selection in Cascade's "Ultra-Pima" cotton yarn might be even better than "Luna", so check that out on their website too. If the yarn weight isn't quite what you want, there are ways around that. Good luck!

I made a baby sweater with Cascades Ultra Pima and it came out very luxurious. I would use it again.

Knit Picks is awesome, but they usually are a little light on yellows (being a Hufflepuff, I have a hard time finding a good shade). Still, it's affordable, and they are expanding, so it's worth a look-see. :)

If you don't mind 100% non superwash wool, Wool of the Andes in Caution is spot on for Hufflepuff yellow (at least the darker shade used in the trapped bar scarves). It looks super orange in their photos, but is much more of a goldish color.

I love both the Peaches and Cream and the Sugar and Spice cotton "kitchen" yarns for projects, I've used them for socks, scarves, wrist warmers and a sweater. They wear like iron, and was very well with just a little care to blocking and drying.

They do tend to be available at most crafting stores and are about $1.50-2.00 a ball. The only trick is finding someone who has all the available colors.

Good Luck!
