I never really liked Christmas, the build up was alright, people got excited, my parents put up a tree. Sometimes I could have a candycane if I brushed my teeth right after and flossed and used the green mouth wash that was so strong it almost burnt.

And then there would be all that family. I do love my family, but boy they were noisy. I just wanted some peace, just a minute or maybe two… But, well, they were family. You make exceptions for family.

The presents were good, because it meant books and holidays in which to read them.

So I guess Christmas wasn’t so bad. But I was always glad it only came once a year.

Christmas at Hogwarts, now that was different, that was… Well it was different. I had presents to buy and snowballs to throw. I’d eat candycanes and I’d wait hours before brushing my teeth.

Then I’d feel guilty and brush them twice.

And then there was mistletoe… Ron would always blush and mumble and find an excuse to dash off. I’d always smile and shake my head, it was only a twig, it didn’t really mean anything…

“Hey, Hermione?” He tugged at my arm, turning me around and pointing to the archway. “Look, mistletoe.” It was always good to see him smile like that; I knew Christmas wasn’t a time he enjoyed very much either.

I blushed, because really, what else could I have done?

“Yeah, mistletoe.” I nodded as I became all too aware he was still holding my arm.

“I’m glad we agree.” Harry teased and we laughed, boy laughing made things a little easier.

“Merry Christmas, Hermione.” His glasses slipped down his nose right as he pressed a soft kiss against my lips. It only lasted a moment before a group being lead by Seamus broke into whistles and cheers.

“I better get upstairs, my socks are wet.” It was his turn to blush and it made me feel much better.

“Merry Christmas, Harry.”

I never really liked Christmas, but maybe I can make an exception, just this once.
