It's here at last! Week One - Pattern One of The
Project of Doom Block of the Week!
If you DO NOT want to see the block before you make the pattern in order to keep it a mystery, please do not click on the cut. If you just can't stand it...go ahead, click!
Just couldn't stand it, could you? Ah, that's alright. It's been hard for me to keep the secret! If you clicked on the cut (and I know you did!), then you have a very good idea where this Block of the Week is going. Imagine a quilt with 30 unique blocks, two-thirds of which include specifically magic-related objects. Do you like that? I hope so, because I like it, too!
Now that the cat's out of the bag, you might want
a list of books from Harry Potter canon for inspiration. My plan is to include my favorite titles from HP. Think embroidery (hand or machine), fabric pens or markers or stenciling. Whatever works best for you.

A note about the Block of the Week patterns:
You will notice immediately that these patterns are slightly different than patterns I've shared in the past. There are several reasons for this. The patterns are BIG. Instead of 5" finished, these patterns are 10" finished (or 10.5" unfinished). Instead of one page, all patterns will span multiple pages, so you won't need to enlarge the pattern to get the correct size. The patterns are presented in PDF format, to make it easier for me to include Block of the Week information. And lastly, the pattern format itself has changed slightly because the Project of Doom was designed using a combination of EQ7 and Photoshop, instead of just Photoshop, which is how I drafted all my patterns in the past. If the pattern format confuses you in any way, let me know as soon as you can so I can address any problems.
The goal is for the Project of Doom Block of the Week to be simple AND awesome! Part of the awesome is sharing what you make! Please remember that to be eligible for the monthly drawing, you need to be a member of
and share block photos that will then be posted by me for Tuesday Photos. You can do that by
emailing your photos to me, posting links OR images in the comments of any post OR by posting them to our
flickr group! Please note that if you post your photos in the
flickr group or in comments, it is not necessary to email them to me. You can share any Harry Potter block photo any time, including PoD photos, so if you have a late start, please continue to share!
