Wow, that was really moving. I thought you were going to go competely (delightfully) AU, and you pulled it all back into the book storyline with a few deft touches.

The Lucius, especially, was impressively IC, all smiles and plans, even when he's fucking someone over instead of just fucking them.

Ooh, such an interesting scenario setup, and such a lovely expansion. I particularly like:

Sirius had rejected him, had chosen half of James over all of Remus

and the very last paragraph, which is just wonderful.

I actually really like this pairing, although you don't see much of it. I have absolutely no idea why, other than the ones I've read before have been shamelessly kinky *g*

This on the other hand was gorgeous, beautifully written as always, and so sad. It fits perfectly with the drabble (which was great stuff, I love the repetition of 'without' in the last few lines) without being at all predictable, as I had also expected an AU scenario.

Oh, you did exactly what I'd hoped you would...you drafted it perfectly around canon and made it work. I love how you worked Remus' part as the one who suggested Sirus to switch secret-keepers into the story. That works perfectly. And the writing is gorgeous and that last paragraph is just heart-breaking. What a lovely story you created out a few lines of dialogue. Love it! :-)
