What was your first impression of Hogsmeade?

Cool but not quite as cool as Diagon Alley.

Too close to many villages I've visited. Kinda run-down and dumpy.

Harry v. Draco, Snape v. Lupin, Crookshanks v. Scabbers…which rivalries did you delight in?

I know I loved, and still love, Remus's firm defense of Neville.

Same, I liked that not only Remus defended Neville when Snape tried to make him look bad (serious so much hate for snape), but he also gave Neville the opportunity to Face his fear of snape and conquer it (while putting snape in ridicule and giving him a taste of his own medicine)

What are your favorite shippy moments that took place? (All ships welcome! Put the ship in the subject line)

Again, I don't find the book shippy per say. But the development of the friendship between Harry and Hermione in the time turner scenes made my shippy heart happy. Also, the way Sirius talked about James and the way others talked about the friendship between the two made my shipper heart happy too.

Basically, I'm all about friendships developing to romance, so I love scenes that show strong friendship.

First read through i noticed nothing shippy - five years latter though nothing would convince me that Sirius didn't have a thing for James :). Mostly I headcannoned one sided attraction; but thats what fanfiction was for.

My headcanon is totally that Sirius was in love with James. And that maybe they experimented a few times at Hogwarts.

"Then you should have died! You should have died, rather than betray your friends, as we would have done for you."

(I might not be quoting it exactly right.)

I recently re-read PoA (maybe a year ago now?) on LJ, and it struck me how while some things obviously hadn't been set up yet (there's a glaring absence of Aurors, for example, though in my head canon they were there but laying low), a lot of things are built up I think even canon missed. We all loved the Marauder storyline, but it occurred to me that in a lot of ways, they were never supposed to be wunderkind. Sure, they did awesome things and I still love Remus and Sirius, but even in the book they were flawed, as was Snape. The trio ends up facing a few parallel challenges, both in PoA (with "Scabbers" and Crookshanks) and later on in the series, but moving on from it, as opposed to remaining split apart from it. It's just really interesting. Anyone else get that?

Yes and no.

I did notice the lack of Aurors. Remus and Sirius - like most if not all the characters presented by JK are complex, they have their flaws and their weaknesses and their strengths and their hopes/dreams. That is one of the things that makes Hogwarts so very real to me.

I'm not sure I see the parallels between the Marauders and the trio though - you're not the only one to say that but I've never seen it.

I think the Aurors weren't there because Sirius' capture was made by Hit Wizards (which I imagine as a wizarding SWAT), and he didn't get a proper investigation. They just stunned him and threw him in Azkaban.

Although perhaps the Aurors had been disbanded during the first war, or corrupted, and that's why they didn't use them.
