Spells
What's your favorite spell (of any kind) and why? Accio is incredibly useful for a lazybones like me!
How do you feel about the Unforgivable Curses? Do you think that using them can be justified? It's hard to imagine an instance in which an Unforgiveable would be acceptable. Certainly I couldn't justify a Curcio at all. But Imperio could have justifiable uses. Imagine a little girl is about to wander into the street and the first thing you happen to think of to do is to Imperio her to leave the street? Sure there were less questionable spells to use, but you didn't harm her at all and you saved her life, so I'd have no problem with it. Finally, Avada Kedavra actually seems like a very humane way to kill someone if you must kill. There are worse things you could choose, I think.
If you were battling someone, would you be more likely to cause them serious harm or just try to do the minimum amount of damage in order to protect yourself? Somewhere in between. Causing them harm at some point becomes a mean to protect yourself. You can't be solely defensive or else you're just planning your retreat. If you disable their ability to fight, you've also defended yourself. But I wouldn't want to cause them more pain and harm than was really necessary. Though, I say that now. I'm pretty sure in the heat of battle I wouldn't really hold back at all.
Pretend you were in Harry's position right after Bellatrix killed Sirius. You have the opportunity to torture her or even kill her. What do you do? Oh geeze. This is particularly an awful question because I love Sirius and hate Bellatrix and I wanted Harry to torture her in that scene. I did. But ultimately it wouldn't bring back Sirius, and Bellatrix is far beyond learning any lesson from it. Also, I don't think Sirius would want that at all, and that counts for quite a lot. So I wouldn't kill or torture her, but I would sure try to capture her. Of course in reality I wouldn't have time to consider this so carefully in the moment and I would probably do exactly what Harry did.
Which of the options do you think you would be least likely to ever use? Oppugno seems to me to be relatively amateur and therefore a bit useless.
