While browsing decks of tarot cards, I got the idea in my head to make my own. I started going through mythologies and themes that would be relevant to me, and inevitably I stopped at Harry Potter. Unfortunately, my own artistic skills are limited, but another thought stopped me:

Wouldn't it be great to get all those fantastic fanartists together ( Read more... )

I'm not trying to offer her services because I have no idea if she'd be interested, but I think itsbeenvery could do a very, VERY cool job. She's just about the most talented fanartist I can think of who has a style really suited to a tarot deck.

for the suits, you already have Gryffindor's sword and Hufflepuff's cup available for your card-designing pleasure. Maybe Slytherin's locket could stand for pentacles? Although he should really be wands to keep the genders of the suits right. Maybe a serpent staff.

As far as trumps go, all I know is, The Moon should have a wolf, dog, stag and rat running underneath.

I'm not sure about the suits. I like the pre-HBP associations elementally speaking, but using what we've been given from there could make things pretty darn interesting.

Sounds like a great idea to me, I already answered an later post about the major arcana, but I thought I'd post here as well. Not an artist myself, really, but I know the Tarot fairly well, and would love to help out with ideas along the lines of suits and facecards and such...

As someone who'd be very interested in using the cards, I think having a common border is almost essential to give some kind of unity. A common back (or a choice of those) would be helpful as well, for anyone who actually wants to print the cards off and use them.

Found you guys through daily_snitch, and I'd be all for helping. Um, I don't have really much art up, but for a sample, I do have this picture of the Mauraders (kind of sort of as the Beatles. At least, it was inspired by them.) here, and, just for fun, a doodle of Snape.
