Harry stayed at the Dursleys' until Bill's wedding. During the reception, Harry suddenly realized how much Ron and Hermione could lose on his mission. He was thankful they volunteered to go, but didn't understand why. He was scared he wouldn’t be able to protect them.
When he questioned why they would chance it, they both smiled and clasped his hands, answering, "You need us more."
Harry realized in that moment he was incapable of expressing his love for them, yet discovered in the same instant he didn't have to. They already knew.
"That's what family is for, Harry," Hermione said.
