So my job has been to send out emails to people I know at post-houses around Portland, grubbing for work, then wait around until I get something back. Some people never answered my emails. Some people answered my emails, then never got back to me

Why not start looking around beyond portland, applying to things that look really promising? You don't have to relocate until you find a job. Then you move for a few years, get more experience, I stay in Portland to feed the cats, you send me fat amounts of cash while looking for something in Portland, and eventually, you transfer back? It's not an all or nothing question, darling, you can start throwing your net out expermentally.

Hey Hodge, sorry the job thing hasn't worked out. But I can tell you from personal experience that the receptionist thing isn't so bad. It's not a trip to the moon on gossimer wings, but it ain't bad.
