The potions clues make me wonder whether Snape could be the Half-Blood Prince. I also found it odd that Slug would just "happen" to have that particular book. He is a Slytherin and it would have been to his best advantage to have Harry excel in an area he previously didn't do so well. That way he gets to praise and suck up to Harry more for his "good work" with out being obvious.
The lack of questioning Harry gave this book was an irritation I thought he would have outgrown. Every book has had Harry acting under a misapprehension (as well as everyone thinking Harry is, but he's secretly right). I wish he would have come round finally, that sometimes the things he trusts might not be trustworthy.
Poor Ginny.
Also, I finally noticed a big irritation with the Hogwarts schooling system. It seems their learning comes solely from the books they read, not the teachers. Rarely, if ever, does a teacher explain piece by piece how to acheive the desired result. Without seeing their textbooks, I have no idea how ANYONE learns anything at that school.
