N.B. Ginny's history is still a bit up in the air, this was
nixchan's interpretation, but if someone wants to play her and has a different idea something will be able to be sorted.
Harry's history is well documented until the 2nd fall of Voldemort.
After the events of Deathly Hallows, as he was of age at the time, Kingsley Shacklebolt, being the new Minister for Magic, offered Harry a position of Auror at the Ministry commencing immediately. He rejected the offer (seeing it as favourable treatment from the Ministry) and returned to Hogwarts, with McGonagall as Headmistress, the following year to finish his education. During the 're-sit' year Harry and Ginny's relationship was rekindled. In his opinion the danger had passed, Voldemort had gone and there was absolutely nothing that was going to keep him away for any longer, not even Ron. The last year had been agony, the future looked bright.
After graduation and receiving suitable N.E.W.Ts he began his Auror training at the Ministry, feeling that he had actually earned the place. Three years of training and constant reassurances from Ginny that she would be able to look after herself should anything happened to him, saw Harry beginning work as an Auror. Most of the work involved following up reports of Death Eaters in hiding and taking shifts at Azkaban as Kingsley, unsurprisingly, refused to use the Dementors as guards again. It was also during this time that Harry had a major hand in keeping the Malfoys out of Azkaban, mainly due to Narcissa’s behaviour during the ‘Battle of Hogwarts’.
Harry's time as an Auror came to a close when Ginny told him she was pregnant. They were living together at Grimmauld Place, with Kreacher, but had no plans to get married. This soon changed when Molly Weasley heard the news and started desperately planning a wedding. Harry's reaction to the news was to immediately drop out of the Auror service. He'd experienced growing up without parents, lost people close to him and most poignantly seen his godson grow up without Remus and Dora. He was not going to do that to his children, no chance. He was moved to a desk job within the Department of Mysteries and quickly became deeply unhappy. He loved his wife and his new-born son, but he was here stuck behind a desk, not doing anything. He'd seen what was still wrong with the world and he wasn't doing anything about it. People around him were becoming aware of how unhappy was, but he wasn't reaching out to anyone.
At Sprout’s retirement party Harry was approached by his former Transfiguration teacher and it was suggested he apply for recently vacated post of DADA professor at Hogwarts. This was the closest Harry’s friends came to an intervention. He took her up on it. He's been teaching there for the last nine years. When he took the post Ginny and brood, which by now numbered three, moved to Hogsmeade. This worked out well enough for Ginny. After she'd graduated Hogwarts she started playing as Seeker with the Falmouth Falcons. She took a break when she became pregnant with James and was going to return. However Albus was only a few months behind his brother and once Albus was born she retired, coached part-time and began helping in the Diagon Alley branch of Weasley's Wizarding Wheezes. It was easy to move to the Hogsmeade Shop. The Potters spend the holidays at Grimmauld Place in London.
Harry holds a very strict line on how his children should treat him while at school. He is 'Professor Potter' to them, never 'Dad', something it took James a while to learn. Even with their mother living in the next village they are still full boarders. Both Ginny and Harry believe that it is part of the 'Hogwart's Experience' to actually be living there.
