When: 31st August, 2017
Time: Mid-Afternoon
Place: Hogwarts Great Hall
Who: All staff

Slughorn rose from his chair and cleared his throat. The other staff had arrived, and were making polite conversation with each other.

"Lady and Gentlemen, it seems we have our attendance complement for the afternoon. So let us get down to business."

He paused, and conjured up a piece of parchment, from which he began to read

"Firstly, Mr Filch has requested that that the each of you receive copies of the latest edition of the school's "Prohibited Items" list." He waved his wand, and large rolls of parchment appeared in front of the teachers. "The list has now broken the 700-item barrier, and this includes a blanket ban on Weasley's Wizard Wheezes products. I'm sure you will all greant Mr Filch your usual level of co-operation in enforcing these rules" he added, with a twinkle in his eye.

"Secondly, on a more serious note, you will all be aware that this summer marks the 20th Anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts, and the defeat of Voldemort. Additionally, this year will be the first major anniversary to see the coming-of-age of children who have been born without his shadow over their lives. I have been in consultation with the Governors, and it has been decided that this year, the commemoration should be more elaborate; a time to rejoice in our achievements, as well as remembering those who gave their lives to win us this freedom. Additionally, the Governors have approved an expediture of several thousand galleons in order to create a more permanent monument to the Battle; one that will capture the essence of both looking back and pushing forwards."

"To that end, I would like all our inputs on how best to do this. Ideas for any ceremony, and for the memorial. It has also been suggested by the Board that we might take design submissions from the student body."
