Rose Amelia Peakes (nee Zeller) was born to a modest English family on the eve of March 27. She is the middle child of Harry William Zeller and Diana Rose Smeeton. She has an older brother, Nigel Harry, who is two years her elder and a younger sister, Emilie Caroline, who is two years her younger.
She got on unusually well with her siblings as a child, and the three enjoyed each others’ company greatly. Rose was a charming little girl, with a huge smile and blonde locks of curls. Her only vice was that when she was overemotional about something, strange things would happen. For example, when her older brother picked on her too much, he would float to the ceiling and out of reach. Though happenings like this were left unexplained, they were never investigated. These strange things did not happen often enough to alarm her parents.
Rose was schooled as a normal muggle. She attended kindergarten at the age of five, and then continued with her elementary school education. School was warm and exciting to Rose. She was quickly accepted by her peers and actually became pretty popular. Rose’s education was nothing extraordinary. She took the same subjects as the other students, and was always a bright girl. She began to play sports, but she didn’t really excel at anything. Rose was simply a carefree child. She was cute and smart, and had many friends.
However, the June follow Rose’s eleventh birthday brought her whole world crashing down. The letter, which came strangely by an owl, explained to Rose about her “magical gift” and how she was a witch, and needed to attend Hogwarts in order to foster her talent. Rose’s parents were surprisingly proud of her, though she was quite upset. Her parents insisted upon her going to “the Hogwarts place.”
Rose boarded the Express in the late summer of 1995 under the alias that she was attending a private all-girls boarding school in Scotland. She was sorted into Hufflepuff at the Sorting Ceremony. Rose flourished at Hogwarts like she did at her muggle elementary school. Rose’s time at Hogwarts flew by. She received seven OWLs after her fifth year. In her sixth year, Rose met Gryffindor Jimmy Peakes, and they began to date. Rose completed her Hogwarts education in 2002.
In her time at Hogwarts, she proved to be an excellent Potions student in her time at Hogwarts, and received ‘Outstanding’ on both her OWLs and NEWTs in the subject. After Hogwarts, Rose and Jimmy moved into a small flat in downtown London. Both began to work for the Ministry of Magic.
Both were career-driven people, and they focused for a good seven years on progressing in their respective departments. [Jimmy was appointed on to the Wizengamot and Rose served in the Research Department.] The eighth year after both had left Hogwarts, Jimmy proposed to Rose and they were married a year later. After a lovely honeymoon to Australia and New Zealand, the happy couple returned to the stress of daily life at the Ministry.
Five years past, and the happily wed couple spent their days traveling the world and working. So, then, 14 years after Rose had graduated from Hogwarts, she received an owl from the Headmaster, notifying her of an open Potions Professor position. Potions was Rose’s passion, so she quickly requested an interview. Rose was hired for the position on the spot. She was absolutely thrilled.
She and her husband, Jimmy, relocated into a countryside house a few towns over from Hogsmeade, Scotland so that Rose could live closer to school. She was one of the first professors at the school who was married. Three years later, Rose was offered to position of Head of House for her alma mater, Hufflepuff. The position couldn’t have been more of a pleasant surprise.
Rose is now 31 years old. This will be Rose’s second year as the Head of House for Hufflepuff and her fifth year as a Professor and is honored to be among the esteemed Hogwarts staff. Rose is particularly looking forward to this year, as she is quite excited to be seeing the faces of so many of her peers’ children at school.
As a side note, Rose’s older brother, Nigel, has been happily married for seven years and has two children. Likewise, Rose’s little sister, Emilie, is engaged. The wedding is scheduled for next April.
