Last sentence, 100% agree. Make a copy for your files. And send it registered -- it'll be worth it. Nice lady or not.

It seems to be settled now. The contractor knows he's supposed to give notice. And the landlady isn't insisting we take the lock off the gate as my imagination had decided she would.

It should be fine now. The contractor has to give notice, so he *shouldn't* do any more surprise visits.
