In fact, our rate is even worse than the average, counting on my fingers and toes I come up with 60%, making the reasonable assumption that our current set aren't headed for the rocks. Though I should point out that much of the situations that contributed to that are now misty history and that we have an awfully small sample size.

I have heard that the rate among royals of any flavour is appallingly high.

Putting real life first helps but y'know what else I have found helps? Reminding yourselves that this is a) a hobby and b) *supposed* to be fun

Back when I did the other research I looked at Royal also. It was roughly the same

Both appear to be lower now, but not a lot

*hugs you*

Thank you for reminding all of us about this.

I've never been a Royal or a Baroness, but I will say that what I've seen as working is the following:

1) Real Life Comes First.
2) Delegate, Delegate, Delegate.
3) Take Time For Yourselves!
4) This Is A Hobby. (See Point 1.)

Thank you for saying this. I have seen too many relationship go by the wayside due to the SCA.

That's why we stepped down when we did. Admittedly it was rather sudden and unexpected (in apearance), but we had to take care of Real Life first. I still remember the cinversation that led up to the decision. Wasn't easy - or fun - but we had to make a decison.

The eventual breakup had nothing to do with the SCA or the stresses of being a Baronial couple.
