Fix-It Updates
Okay, it's been forever since I picked the darn thing up to work on it. Well, a couple weeks at least. Over the last couple days I have finished binding the upper edges of the sleeves and started adding the loops and bars. I finished the left sleeve this afternoon and am very happy with how it looks. Tudor dress fixes
Okay, I finally took the sleeves off the bodice of the Tudor gown and detached the skirt from the waistband and the waistband from the bodice. I have to remake the waistband, but I went and got webbing this time instead of trying to use several layers of fusible interfacing. That should make a BIG difference, as well as not trying to finish the ( Read more... ) -
Scottish outfit complete!
I am so happy with how my bodice turned out! I will be posting pictures of the whole outfit soon. The only thing I didn't catch was how much of a gap there is at the bottom outside of the straps, near the armpits, but as I'm using the outfit for archery, the extra room will be okay. I'll just make sure the next time I use the pattern to check that ( Read more... ) -
Eyelets are done!
Well, I just finished the eyelets on my Scottish bodice and have tried it on! I love the flat steel in the front, it lays so nicely! And it hits me right at the waist like I was hoping! I haven't done the straps yet, but that's easy now. I have just have to decide if I'm going to lucet a cord for the front or use one of my corset lacings. The white ( Read more... ) -
Still sewing the Scottish bodice...
So I got everything pinned together this morning, and this afternoon I've started sewing all three layers together. That was, of course, after I sat down and measured the boning channels and cut the bones for it. I like cutting my own bone lengths because I can change the length if I made a mistake with the length of the channel. Which I've done ( Read more... ) -

Scottish mock up complete!
Okay, so my sewing buddy came over this afternoon, just as I was finishing the bodice mock up. I basted the shoulder straps and tried it on. I had trimmed the sides after sewing all the pieces together to make the straight line running around the back. And the verdict is in! I did it right! The two inches were exactly what it needed and the back ( Read more... ) -
New Scottish bodice mock-up
Soooo, I've modified the pattern for the bodice by adding two inches at the waist. Unfortunately, only the front center and back center pattern pieces have waist lines on them. I removed the point from the back and left the point in the front. I'm not sure where to cut the side pieces so that it's straight on my waist, so that's what I'm going to ( Read more... ) -

Okay, here are some pictures of my husband's Kilt and leine that I made him last October, and my Scottish outfit that I'm in the middle of upgrading. My red bodice is too short, which is why I'm remaking it (in blue this time), and you can just catch a glimpse of the icky light green underskirt as I'm walking that I HATE!
