Arabella Figg showed up this afternoon; she was supposed to be bringing us a kitten, in honour of the new flat or Christmas or everybody in the universe needing kittens, but at the last minute she decided that Saint Jerome (the kitten's name, though a less stately cat I have never met) would be lonely with nobody around except the old and now-

I'm a little surprised she has kittens to give away this time of year - most queens kitten around mid- to late spring. I hope Crookshanks doesn't mind them too much.

I also hope you're planning a visit to the vet in about six weeks, too. Magical or ordinary, there are far too many unwanted kittens in the world.

They're not babies, just young; Martin was born in May, and Jerome in August.
