Also, by the way, hands up everyone who describes certain fics as "lemons."
*hands raised half-wave* I used to, but not so much lately, partly because many people don't seem to understand it and partly because apparently many others find it annoying.
Oh, ok, thanks! I was browsing the Ranma section on ff.net yesterday and noticed that everyone kept using "lemons," but sometimes in weird ways. So then I couldn't remember if that was still current slang, or if it just survives in certain fandoms but usage has evolved, or if everyone using it was super old-school.
Ehhh, maybe they're just new to me, but...mostly referring to explicit scenes themselves as lemons, rather than the entire fic, and things like "no lemons" or "took the lemons out." But actually I'm not even sure if these are new authors using the term in new ways, or older authors reposting on ff.net and using the term the way it always has been. I tended to avoid lemon fics anyway @_@ (some were great, but most were just embarrassing).
Watch these videos at home, damn it! Ahahahaha, is it not the best video ever???
Yeah, so back in the day, "lemons" referred to sexually explicit fanfiction, but it's not in wide use now - or so I thought!
Haha, that's how I should introduce myself at parties from now on: "My name is Hsiu, I'm unmarried and unable to play Fur Elise on the piano. ASK HOW YOU CAN HELP."
And you are the nicest friend ever! You must tell me if you come back State-side for a visit so that we can meet up again!
I've never seen Mermaid Saga, but if I can imagine anyone from Ranma in a "Rosencrantz and Gildenstern are Dead"-esque tragicomedy, it would be Ryoga. Wandering from place to place, dying over and over again... and then mixing Nabiki into it? That would be fun.
It is so fun! I mean, it is gothic horror for reals, and there is one episode of the anime that I refuse to try to watch because the manga is disturbing enough, but the anime is kind of comforting because nothing bad can happen as long as I think of the characters as Ryoga and Nabiki. And because it's not real, but that's beside the point.

I sent that video to my sister, who posted it to her Facebook, and then someone defriended her over it, so I guess this stuff is Serious Business D:

Really?? That's a new one for me...I like it though!
Oh goodness, if we introduced ourselves thusly, we would be the LIFE of the party. Any party.
Good luck on the GREs! If you need to feel better about yourself at any time during the process, ask me about my abysmal Math section score ;)
