“Aya, please. You can't just ignore me forever...” Kento pleaded as he squatted next to her desk during study hall. She didn't respond as she listened to her music. “Aya~ I'm really sorry-” Shizu pushed him away, “Would you just give her some space?! If you still want there to be a relationship between you two, just give her some time to cool off. Otherwise it's over!”
“...” he sighed. “..I gotta go get something... I'll be back.” He walked out as Aya sighed, “You didn't need to be so rough with him Shizu...”
“Did you want him to be bugging you for the rest of study hall? I don't think so...” she stated. “Just... Let's get to work...”
“... Man...” Kento sighed as he walked through the halls in thought. “Seriously, Aya. So you found out my secret... but it's still me--” He stopped as did the guy at the other end of the hall. He glared, “Happy now?”
“I don't know what you're talking about.” Yuto responded as he groaned, “Don't act stupid. You told Aya didn't you? Or at least made her go to the concert!”
“She surprised me too you know?” he stated. “I didn't plan her to be there.”
“Sure you didn't...” he said as he crossed his arm. He sighed and said, “Alright, don't believe me...” He went passed him as Kento then said, “I intend to get even with you...” He stopped and turned, “Go ahead and try...” Kento walked towards him and stood face to face, “Oh I will... and you'll wish I hadn't.” He continued off as Yuto shrugged it off.
“Okay, I'll catch you later!” Aya smiled as she waved off. Shizu called, “Wait, Aya! I don't have drama today--”
“I'll meet ya at home. I gotta an errand to run!” she said running towards Raiya's school.
“AYA-NEE!” she heard as she smiled and Raiya ran over to her. A large smile was on his face as he jumped her with a hug. “I missed you!!!”
“I miss you too Raiya.” she smiled. “So, are you up for some ice cream?” He nodded happily as they headed off.
“So are you coming home now?” Raiya questioned as they finished and began walking home. She shook her head, “Sorry, Rai. I quit and moved out for a reason. And you know how stubborn I can be... I'm not coming back so easily.”
“But... we all miss you Aya-nee... and even if he won't admit it... Yu-kun does too.” he stated.
“And I miss you guys, but Yuto's been getting horrible lately... well except these last few days. He's been strangely nice to me.”
“See! You should come back.” he stated. She shrugged a bit sad, “I dunno... he just became nice... as soon as I left. Maybe... when I'm not around... he's at his nicest.”
“Onee-chan!” Raiya hugged her tightly. “That's not true! He's been so moody and stressed lately! He's been getting emotional a lot especially angry! That all happened when you left.”
“... Yeah... Keito told me that he's been going on rampages.” she thought. “But you know how bratty he can--”
“He's not being bratty this time!” he told her seriously. “This is different!” She thought, “Well, either way, I'm not coming home...” He sighed sadly as she thought and said, “But tell you what? I'll drop by every now and then to hang out. Is that ok with you?” HE smiled a bit, “I guess so... Thanks Aya-nee.” She nodded as they arrived. He asked, “Can you stay for a while? I'm sure mom and dad want to see you.” She nodded, “Sure.”
“I'm home! And look who's with me!!” Raiya called as smiles appeared on their parents face, “Aya!”
“Hey, Mom. Dad.” She smiled. “How've you guys been?” They hugged her, “Fine, honey. What about you? You doing alright?” She nodded, “I just came by to say hi and drop Raiya off...”
“You don't want to stay for dinner?” Raiya asked. She shook her head, “It's okay... I don't want to intrude--”
“Aya, this is your home. It isn't intruding--” her mom said as they all heard, “Ah!! Aw, Shit!” They rushed into the kitchen as they saw Yuto shaking his red hand in the air. “Stupid pot!!” Aya sighed and walked over, grabbing his hand and pulling him over to the sink. She put the burnt hand under cold water as he became relax. She scolded, “Geez, can't you do anything without hurting yourself?”
“Hey, I was doing just fine! I've survived an entire week without your help!” he responded. “I've done all my chores, made dinner, and cleaned up afterwards!” She smiled, “Well, I'm glad you're able to do all that...” She looked at the what he was making and smiled, “Wow... not too shabby...” She grabbed a spoon, dipped it in the udon and tasted it as Yuto panicked, “Wait! It's not ready yet--”
“Wow, it's pretty good...” she said surprised. She turned to Yuto and smiled, “Maybe just a little more salt and it'll be great!” She then said, “Well I should take off... I'll come by to visit again soon--”
“Well that's rude.” Yuto told her. “You come to someone else house uninvited and you don't even bother to stay for the diner prepared?”
“This is her home, Yuto--” his mom called as Aya said, “Rude? Wasn't it you who asked me to pick up Raiya?”
“Yeah, and you only needed to drop him off. You didn't need to show up here.” he responded.
“Well excuse me for wanting to greet everyone before I took off again.” she retorted. “Next time don't ask me for any favors!” She walked off as Raiya called, “Eh?! Aya-nee! Wait!” She stopped and turned to him as he asked, “Please... I told you he's been moody lately... Please just come visit again...”
“... I'll think about it Raiya--”
“Don't bother!” Yuto told her as she glared, “Geez and I thought you've been getting nicer?! I guess I was wrong! There's no way a jerk like you could be nice!” She stormed out as Raiya pouted, “Yuto-nii apologize to Aya-nee!”
“No Raiya...” he sighed. “Just let her cool off. Eat your dinner...”
“Urgh... guys are seriously on my nerves lately!” Aya complained to Shizu. She nodded, “I agree... which is why you should break up with Nakajima.”
“Not just him Shizu. All guys.” she sighed. “Seriously... are guys just born annoying?”
“Good question...” she stated. “I'm sure Hey! Say! JUMP isn't though... they're too great to be annoying.”
“I beg to differ...” she mumble under her breath. “Anyways, what do you think I should do about Kento.. besides breaking up?”
“I don't know... maybe just take a break from your relationship for a bit... think about what you should... truthfully I don't think him being a stars bad... just the fact that he hid it from you. But you make it clear how you feel about celebrities so he only had a chance with you if he hid that from you.”
“That's true... I guess I should forgive him...”
“Just don't forgive him right away... give it time first...” she told her as she nodded. So after 2 days of avoiding Kento's pleading cries, Aya decided it was time to move on.
“Shizu! Hurry up! We're gonna be late!” she screamed to her best friend.
“Just go on ahead! I'll just need to miss first period!” she responded as Aya groaned, “Seriously, next time get up to your alarm! I'll see you at school!” She ran off and as she entered the school she saw crowds of kids all over different walls and staring at bulletins. She gave a questioning look, “What's with all this commotion---”
“There she is!” she soon heard as all the students look at her and rushed over. Fear rose in her as they all crowded around her, majority of them being girls. They were all screaming, “WHAT THE HELL IS THIS?!” “IS THIS TRUE?!” “WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL US?!” “NO WAY! THIS CAN'T POSSIBLY BE TRUE!!”
“... wha-- what?” she questioned as she took notice of all the papers within the school. They were all pictures. She grabbed one as terror hit her. It was a picture of her working backstage with Yuto and the other members. On the side of the photo it said 'She's been work for HSJ and kept it all from us!' She grabbed another and it showed her at home when she was cooking for Yuto and the family. This one was captioned, 'She's even living with one of them!!'
“AYA! WHAT IS THIS?!” some girls in her class angrily asked. “You're living with Yuto?! I thought you weren't into stars?!!”
“I'm not--” she tried to say as someone else held up a picture of Kento performing on stage.
“But you're dating a star and didn't tell us?!” another said. “You're dating Nakajima Kento, You're living with Nakajima Yuto, and you're chilling backstage with the rest of hey! Say Jump?!”
“As if you don't like stars! You're a freaking slut! Always all over them!!”
“No! I'm not--” she was interrupted as screams and insults were flying at her from every direction. Tears formed in her eyes as she ran right off with all the girls angrily chasing after. She ducked behind a trash bin in the hall as all the girls ran by. She began wiping her tears when she heard a relieving voice. Yet it was angry.
“You did all this didn't you?!” she peeked inside the classroom next to where she was hiding to see Kento confronting Yuto in front of the 3 other HSJ members and a few of his classmates. Kento was holding a picture of him at the concert. Captions were written on it, 'Aya kept her celebrity boyfriend a secret from everyone! She wanted to keep him all to herself!' Yuto responded annoyed, “Why would I do that? I have no motive.”
“You just like messing with both me and Aya! So you pulled this!” he accused.
“I wouldn't want people to know I was associated with Aya.” he sneered. “There's no way I'd do this... If it didn't occur to you. I'm a victim here too...”
“As if! You just did that to cover yourself up!” he glared. “I swear Yuto! You'll pay for this!” He then ran up to him and tackled Yuto down. A punch came in contact with Yuto's face as he kicked Kento off him. The two went at each other as Aya was about to run in to stop them when she heard, “Aya! There you are!” She turned to see Haruka and Reila. She looked at the ground trying to avoid their eyes. “Hey, are these rumors true?”
“...” she gave no response as she peeked back to the classroom to see Yamada holding Kento back and Keito holding Yuto. Reila sighed, “I guess it is... why didn't you tell us?”
“... because of how obsessed all the girls here are...” she said softly. “Did you see the way they were questioning me? And... and calling me a slut...” Haruka hugged her, “Aya, those girls are just jealous of you. They're the only sluts and we're your friends. We know you better than them.” She smiled a bit, “Thanks... but you two aren't mad?”
“Well a little...” Reila told her. “Keeping this a secret from us, but I mean it is understandable so it's okay.” She hugged them in response, “Thanks guys. I thought for sure you would've stopped hanging out with me.”
“What?! Come on Aya! You know us better than that!” they smiled as she then saw Kento storm outta the room. He spotted Aya and quickly hugged her, “Aya, you okay?!” She nodded a bit, “I'm fine... it's ok.”
“There she is!” she then jumped at the sound of the angry crowd of girls. She pulled away from Kento as a girl said, “Hiding behind your boyfriend now?! Geez, you're sickening!” Kento glared, “Shut up! Just leave her alone! All these are just stupid rumors and bad photo editing!”
“I doubt that! You're really a star aren't you?!” another said. “You were performing at the last HSJ concert! If that's true, the rest of this has to be!” Kento tried to think as Aya, still looking at the floor with water in her eyes, shot off.
“Aya!” she heard Kento's worried voice. She ran outta the school back to Shizu's as she was walking outta the door. She spotted her, “Aya? What are you doing back?” She then saw the tears in her eyes as she said, “Oh god. It was that stupid Nakajima wasn't it?! I swear I'm gonna kill him! I'll go right now and -” She shook her head frantically, “No... it wasn't him...I just... There's just drama going on right now.”
“Drama?” she questioned as they went into the house. They sat in Shizu's room as she asked, “What's going on?” She bit her lip and sighed, “It's just... people aren't treating me nicely anymore... because of my secret that someone revealed.”
“... Aww come on. It can't be that bad...” she smiled.
“With girls as obsessed as the ones in our school? Yea it can be.” she sighed. “Shizu... before you hear all the rumors I want you to hear the truth...” She nodded as Aya told her, “I... I lost my parent when I was 5 years old. I was living in an orphanage until my foster mother adopted me a few months later. That foster mother... is Nakajima Yuto's mother.”
“Ekk!” she squealed. “Oh my god! Nakajima Yuto?! Aya! Why didn't you tell me?!!” She responded, “Because of the way people react about it... All those girls were tormenting me, calling me a slut... they don't even know the whole story....And people would use me to get closer to the celebrities...” Shizu hugged her, “Aya, come on. No matter how much of a crazy fangirl I am. It's you that I've been best friends with forever.... truthfully if it weren't for you I wouldn't have even become a Hey! Say! JUMP fan remember?” She smiled, “Oh yeah... I was really into them then.... Yuto was really excited about it and asked me to do some advertising... you were the first person I told and gave you the very first CD.” Shizu quickly got up and scrambled through some stuff. “Here it is!” She showed the CD to her as she saw all the autographs.
“I've kept it in good condition these last few years.” she smiled. “One of the greatest present I've ever gotten...” Aya smiled staring at it as she told her, “I remember when Yuto gave me this...it was the day of their debut and he had the entire group sign two. One for me and one for the first person I advertised to. The first person had to be someone I thought to be a person who would stick to a friend no matter what the situation and would be like that with them. I guess I really picked a winner huh?”
“Awww, Aya!” Shizu hugged her. “Look, even if you weren't Nakajima's step sister and didn't know HSJ I'd always be your best friend! And there's no point in me using you to meet them. I already have and I can make money for their concerts. Even if it's cool that you know them.... I won't use you. We'll still be the best friends we always were!”
“Thanks Shizu. I really need someone by my side right now...” she hugged her back and soon Shizu shot up, “Well I'm gonna head to the school and knock some brains outta all those girls screwing with you! You want me to tell the teachers you're sick?” She nodded as she went to the door, “Okay. Just chill today. Don't let those bratty girls get to you.” She left as Aya laid quietly on the bed, still depressed about all the comments from the girls at her school.
“It's been almost a week now!” Shizu told her. “Don't you think that's enough to be sulking...”
“Shizu, please. I don't wanna have to deal with those girls.” she stated. Shizu sighed, “Come on. I already told them you were adopted.”
“That doesn't or barely changes anything...” she groaned. “Just please let me do what I want...”
“... I swear if this goes on for another week I will drag you to school.” she stated as she left the house. Aya sighed and decided to do some work Kento had brought over to her the previous day. A knock came at the door as she answered it. A surprise look came on her face as Yuto and Keito stood before her with Shizu. She smiled, “You have some visitors.... truthfully I wanna ditch school right now, but I can't afford to miss anymore days than I already have. I'll see you after. Go on in guys.”
“What do you want Yuto?” she asked. He took a seat on the couch stating, “What if I didn't want anything? What if Keito just dragged me along for the ride?” She sighed, “Okay, was there something you two needed?”
“We-- or I wanted to see how you were doing.” Keito told her. “It's strange not seeing you at school.” She nodded, “I'm fine. I'm just taking a break. That's all...” Yuto scoffed, “A break? Ha, that's a good one.”
“And what are you laughing about?” she wondered annoyed. He stated, “Nothing... just the irony. I'd always pull you outta class and you'd always get pissed. So now that I don't do that it's called 'taking a break'?”
“This is different Yuto--”
“Is it? Weren't you the one always complaining about missing school? Well guess what? You've missed an entire week already and you're free of me and aren't sick. I seriously thought you'd be doing better in school when you quit. Guess I was wrong--”
“I am doing better! Maybe not the last few days bu still--”
“The last few days count apart of your grades.” he pointed. “You're not even trying... geez--”
“Shut up, Yuto. You don't know what I'm going through right now.” she scolded. “Seriously, did you come here just so you can mess with me?!”
“Aya, we just want you to come back to school.” Keito told her.
“Psh, as if I want her there.” Yuto scoffed. “Then I don't have to see her face anymore.” A whack came in contact with Yuto's head as he shot up, “AH!What?!”
“Come on Yuto. At least pretend to be nice.” Keito told him. Aya sighed, “Look, I'll go back to school when I'm ready alright? Just give me time.” Keito nodded, “Alright, but I really think you should come back soon. Otherwise, what's the whole point of going or enrolling to get an eduction if you aren't even attending the classes?” She nodded, “That's true...”
“Can we go know Keito?” Yuto sighed as he nodded. “I'm done listening to this hypocritical girl...”
“Since when have I been hypocritical?!” she wondered annoyed. He imitated in a feminine voice, “'Oh, Yuto! I need to go to school!' 'Yuto I've already missed so many days' 'Yuto, I can't miss anymore'... remember any of those?”
“I told you this is different.” she stated as he shrugged, “Well whatever...” He walked out as Keito sighed, “Well, if you need anything, be sure to ring me up.” She nodded as he followed after. She sighed as she sat down in front of her homework as Yuto's words echoed in her mind.
'You would always get pissed whenever I pulled you outta school' 'taking a break? You were the always complaining about missing school...'
“... urgh... he does have a point...” she groaned.
“Aya~!” Kento smiled as he hugged her a few hours later. “Missed ya at school again...”
“Sorry... it's just.. you know..” she sighed. He nodded, “Look, I probably don't know what you're going through, but you should take your time returning... I'm sure the girls will cool off... eventually...” She sighed a with a small smile, “You seriously don't know girls... especially obsessive ones...”
“... I guess you do...” he stated as she nodded, “Of course.. Shizu's almost at the point... she probably would be if I wasn't friends with her.”
“I thought she's the top obsessive one...” Kento thought as Aya rolled her eyes, “If she was she would've been all over you too. She would've changed her opinion of you the minute she saw you on stage.”
“... I guess that's true.” he stated. “Anyways, I should get going before Kuromiya comes... that way I can get home without bruises...”
“Haha okay.”
“Oh, almost forgot. Here's the assignments for today.” he handed her the stuff.
“Thanks Kento.”
“Anytime Aya.” he smiled as he kissed her cheek. “Look, when you are ready to go back... just know I'll be by your side. I won't let those annoying girls get the best of you.” She nodded with a smile as he took off.
