WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT? WHAT THE FUCK, SHOW??!?

Oh, my God. This cannot go anywhere that is good.

(Except also? It's kind of *awesome.* SO HORRIBLY, HORRIBLY WRONG that it cycles back around and becomes awesome....)

Am now exhausted by the sheer volume of WHAT THE FUCKING FUCK?!? that I am experiencing. Bed now, processing later.

Oh, SHOW.

merryish believes that this "script" was put together as the result of a bar bet to incorporate a bar bet into a script. When they couldn't figure out what to do anyway.

Actually, the bar bet was my favorite part! Fun with engineering is a lot of the reason I initially bonded with Atlantis: I really thought it was going to be a show where smart people had to think their way out of problems on a regular basis. Which, I know -- ha ha ha. But it could have been! And this week, it practically was. *g*

It was pretty bad, wasn't it? Maybe the PTB decided that since we've had two sort-of-heavy John episodes, it was time for another Rodney episode. Otherwise, I have no idea. Keller hitting on Rodney? WTF? WHY?

I was liking it reasonably well, truthfully. And then, WHAM!! Out of nowhere, they totally violated the All-Purpose Rule! I call shenanigans!

Yes! Yes, that is exactly what happened, and I will not be convinced otherwise. *g*

I'm terrified this is going to lead to a adolescent jealousy bitchfest. On the show I mean, I assume it's already happening in some parts of the fandom.

Actually, I'm afraid there won't be a jealousy bitchfest UNLESS I START ONE, because the reactions I've seen have basically been "Rodney + Jennifer = Cute or Not Cute?" I don't think this fandom, in its persistent idolization of Rodney McKay, can honestly take seriously the idea that some second-ranked backup character could or should or would be a threat to fun Rodney plotlines. If the show doesn't specifically make a point of foisting some bitter love triangle angst on us (which they very well may; they were foreshadowing left and right in this ep), my suspicion is that the fandom at large will choose to ignore the entire Ronon/Keller thread of "Quarantine." And then I will be cranky. Ier. Crankiest yet.

Sigh. Oh, show.
