Sadly enough, you don't get marks for seeing a different part of the big picture. That is one thing i definitely don't like about being an English major!

I agree with you that Shakespeare's poetry is very beautiful and it is emotional. It is complex, which is why so many people are turned off by reading him(but also because we are forced to read it in high school). Shakespeare really did know what he was doing, or at least it seems like it, and it really is amazing to see how amazing his poems and plays have turned out.
As well, I was wondering what you don't like about TS Eliot? He is as complex as Shakespeare, yet a more interesting and intriguing complexity! I happen to love TS Eliot, so I guess I am biased in this case. Maybe it just takes reading a little more of him, or perhaps it depends on what poems and play you read of Eliot. By far my favourite is The Hollow Men, although extremely difficult to understand and cramped with underlying messages, it is defnitely one of his pieces which we could all benefit from. Try reading that one, if you haven't already, maybe you'll be pleasantly surprised!
