Oofuri Anime
I woke up in the middle of the night to watch it and then I watched it again this morning.
Mostly I liked it - I mean, it was more oofuri - and the only thing I was worried about was Abe's voice, that it would be the same situation as Sasuke's and I couldn't watch the anime at all, but I'm okay with it. I'm not in love with it but it's not intrusive and I can imagine him yelling at his dad with it, which was my one test. It'll grow on me. Everything else is okay; Mizutani and Sakaeguchi sound funny, which is only fitting. I think Mihashi's voice might be very good, but I want to see how it is once he gets his feet underneath him. Also WHAT WILL HATAKE SOUND LIKE?!
Good animation, hope it holds at this quality. Sometimes the character models had a weird Charlie Brown effect, but eh. And there were telephone poles and was Izumi wearing that shirt in the manga and it was a lot stranger to watch Momo-kan's display animated, but the reactions were good; I liked a lot of the background action going on throughout. Poor Hanai - what an introduction. And yet it never fails to surprise me when he's an asshole. And I said Ta-ji-maaaaa at least twice. Tajima is going to be great - he ought to be next to animated in the dictionary.
A lot of time was spent taking the style and imagining other scenes I can't wait to see animated - Haruna! in! the! bathroom! and anytime Abe's dad shows up and the cheer squad and Mihashi's mom and basically everything. Only yesterday did it really hit me that this was only going to be twenty-three minutes of Oofuri or so - I was going to have a whole new series of waiting. I don't think I've had a steady anime - or television show, really - I've watched for at least a year.
Mihashi's eyes were very pretty too.
