I loved looking at - but hated doing - entrelac even when I could knit.

So.

Still interested in buying some silk fiber.

How does one go about spinning it?

It's easy to spin! No, really! It's not as intimidating as one might think. And even if you screw up, it's beautiful. Spin it at high speed so lots of twist gets in, and finer is better than thicker IMO. I like to spin silk top from the fold, by tearing it into chunks and then drafting from the side of the chunks. Let's see...

and this is actually tussah from the fold, a bit thicker.

Does that help? I'm still low on the caffeination spectrum for today I think, so keep poking and asking, or something, if desired.

I'm on the fence about the entrelac. It is definitely teh fiddly. Not so boring as aeons of stockinette however.

Fascinating... It's always interesting to watch someone else spin - I learned mirror-image to everyone I've ever seen spin, because I learned covertly by leaning around a corner and watching someone in a mirror. (Fortunately being cack-handed anyway it works fine.)

I've a Kromski Minstrel; so far I've been able to get some fairly even sock-weight three-plies out of Merino on it. Would that work for silk, d'ye think? And if so...got something really ugly that you'd recommend for destruction, or should I just dive in?

Sigh. That is the hot.

So, are you okay with the kind of Paypal that takes a week to clear? Because that's all I have right now, and I will be able to buy things next week, and I keep eyeing your stuff, and things.

Dewd, like any ol' paypal is totally fine. And you know I'll throw you in a Something Fun(tm) too.

You are kind to me, even though I rib you over measurements.

I am struggling with some hand pain (secondary effects from a shoulder injury of some sort, or at least this is theory) at the moment, and finding very slick yarns hard to work even beginner-fu lace with. (Pure merino likes me, but not the weather. Seasilk likes the weather, but not my left hand.)

Is this "jump on The Blaze anyways and wait to heal" time, or would you recommend some of the merino/tussah millspuns (Girl Trouble!!) instead?
