I remember visiting Vancouver last summer, and it looked like the downtown portion of the Canada Line was still being worked on. I take it that the work's done now?
Your comment on that particular transit line seems to fit the norm for such services once they're up and running: Once it's built, the passengers will come to ride it. En masse. In Ottawa, the O-Train line was expected to have 6,000 passenger-rides per day. In practice, it's been 10,000. And still we argue and try to undermine each others' proposals for expansion in this or that direction in favour of another.
And it goes from nowhere to nowhere. At leas the Canada line goes downtown. The only efficient transportation mode in Ottawa is the personal car. Even more when you have to cross bridges.
