The news seems full of efforts to save me, which I love reading, but figure there's only so many nearly identical articles that I can really post, so I've decided to dig back into my archive again until the next public release ( Read more... )

I saw that when it was released. Beautiful picture, and makes for an icon well-suited for contemplations of the Universe. Thanks! ;)

Ah yes, old Vesto Melvin Slipher, master craftsman of spectroscopic reflection gratings. He pretty much invented the ruling engine, and made some fantastically fine spectrographs.

Of course now we flash them holographically, and get orders of magnitude higher resolution than would ever be possible with a ruling engine.

I know why. Its because the game (Halo 2) has to do with space and aliens coming to earth. This live journal is aobut space right? That is why.
