Julia and I have joined fe2H2O s mother and daughter quiltalong. I started off wildly confused, and now feel wildly enthused. catundra generously gave me a cutting and sewing tutorial, so we are ok for the first steps. I was wondering about this with Bilby's because she has chosen pinks... so it will be a bit bland-but the sashing between will be neutral, so that should help.
I've just finished cutting all the plains for her quilt, and I'm about to start cutting the more complex blocks from the patterns. I'll leave the first three pairs for her to do, given accuracy of cutting is so helpful to the finish I think that will be sufficient for her:-) It's the sewing she's desperate for, in any case:-)

(But yes, I should do a 'starting post' for the task, too:-) )

I haven't done any cutting yet - mostly because I think for us it will be safest to cut then sew each block. Cutting too far ahead is only going to lead to a less than harmonious mother-daughter experience as we get ourselves mixed up. :-)
We haven't chosen the sashing yet which may be a mistake. The plan is to take a bunch of blocks into a fabric shop at the end and it should become clear pretty quickly what will look good. Also the binding and backing. Julia takes after me in the decision making skills department so I am expecting a slow painful visit to the shop.
