Okay, so I'm about to finish the book I am currently reading for Ind. Reading, and I was wondering if anyone had any good suggestions for another book for that class. Two books:

Pearl S Buck's "The Good Earth"

Ken Follet's "Pillars of the Earth"

The first is a classic set in china. It deals with cycles and the land.
The second is historically accurate fiction about the raising of a cathedral during the middle ages. Over the course of more than a century if I remember correctly. While "The Good Earth" is one of those books you have to read to be well rounded like "Moby Dick" etc. I would reccommend reading "Pillars of the Earth" first.

The Kite Runner: NYT best-seller a little while ago, but don't let that discourage you. ;) An easier read, but well, well worth it. Absolutely wonderful.
