Unfortunately you always get bitchiness in fandom. Someone says something someone else doesn't agree with and we have a flame war. I just tend to ignore it. It's geekiness to the extreme if people are being picky about details. I just ignore it.
I've just had a look at the actual post. It's a pity that the emphasis on the story was taken away by the lack of lj-cut. I know it's part of the rules, but people make mistakes and instead of everyone piling on top of said person with harsh comments, we should forgive and forget. The 'Theta' thing isn't widely known by new fans, and even some of those who use it are old school fans. Again, it's either a mistake or artistic embelishment. If someone wants to use out of its correct context then so be it. They should get over it and stop being so nasty!
My thoughts exactly, they do stuff like that they are going to chase new writers away. I mean I use the name a lot no one says anything about it. They should have left the poor girl/boy alone once the admin asked them to LJ-Cut and not all new people know how it's just one mistake is all.
Got in trouble with the mod for calling them bitchy :D but all's forgiven now, I deleted the comment.
I was kind of looking around on lj and found your post. I think the people there were exceptionally mean--You know, I've been watching Dr. Who on and off since the Tom Baker days (I still remember the regeneration scene and Tom Baker complaining his nose was too big, LOL), and I'd never heard of the Theta nickname.
I may be wrong, but I find wendymr to be very unfriendly, and downright rude. She left a criticism of my own story which had some good points, only to leave off with "So these few little details were a bit distracting. However, apart from that this is well-written and I'll read on for now... " It was the 'I'll read on for now...' quip that left me colder than an arctic breeze. I've had several people look over what she wrote, and all of them agree with me in that she is being condescending. It's possible I got her on a bad couple of days, I don't know. I don't know the woman from Adam. What I *do* know is that I got the distinct impression she wanted to be a know-all, and it grated on my nerves. Not to mention being told
