So my small cat, Baby, has developed anxiety about her litter box. She circles the kitchen, approaching it time and again, but not entering. She stands at the entrance and sniffs. Can she go in this time? Maybe....? No. No. Definitely not. And then she circles again ( Read more... )

oh dear. i know sometimes cats will get strange about the litter box if they have a urinary tract infection or something like that, but it does sound like she's getting super picky about the box for some reason. hmmmmm. you haven't switched litters, right? i think the extra box was definitely a good move. i read this book called "cat vs. cat" when hayley was being an asshole b/c she was becoming socially mature, and litter box issues were discussed A LOT. from what i remember, they want you to have one more box than cat, and i remember if you notice that they are going in one area you should put a box there (but that is no solution for the bed or couch). i got a diffuser of "feliway comfort zone," which mimics cat pheromones and chills cats out. maybe helping with the anxiety will help in general.
good luck, dude. i really feel you. when hayley was being an asshole miss kitty went on my floor a few times and it totally stressed me out.
