It took three weeks to get to that beach, ten minutes to get a broken heart, five and a half hours to leave, three more weeks to get back home, and another month before she bothered to leave her bedroom. Two weeks after that she had an identity established, and started training at Torchwood. Sixteen days and she was a certified field agent. A year ( Read more... )

Running. Running. Running.

It was the most consistent thing in the Doctor's life. He never stayed anywhere for too long. He never stuck around after the disaster and he didn't make friends if he could avoid it. It really was much simpler that way. He could carry on in silence. Anonymity was how he stayed alive. It was how he stayed one step ahead of the danger. He was able keep these people safe because they didn’t notice him. They didn’t know that he swooped in at the last second if he could and stopped it all. These people were a race who needed someone fighting for them. They needed someone on their side and the Doctor was happy to be that champion if no one else was.

His dedication to this planet is the exact reason he was in this basement right now. Well not exactly in the basement. He was close though. His timey wimey device was leading him in the right direction. He was on the trail of something that didn’t quite belong here. Then again neither did he in a technical aspect. That wasn’t the main point here though. The most ( ... )

Something was moving behind her, she could hear the sound of soft scuffing on the concrete floor. Her beeping tracking device didn't indicate it was the source of the signal, so whatever it was, it was something different. She carried on as though she hadn't heard, rounded a corner, and quietly shut the device off.

She pressed her back to the wall, waiting for whatever it was to come around the corner behind her, bracing herself, one hand on the taser she had holstered on her hip.

Sneaking around wasn't exactly his favorite thing. It was easier when people just stayed out of his way. He'd sneak if he had to. It wasn't something he favored doing though. He would have preferred to bust in here and handle it on his own. He had already shut his device off as he followed them. He didn't need loud noises alerting them to his presence. That would really get him into a mood for the rest of the evening.

He stopped at the corner and put the device down on the ground. He pressed his back against the wall and pulled the sonic screwdriver from inside his jacket. It wasn't like it was a sonic blaster or anything like that. Essentially it was a screwdriver, but it was his screwdriver. He liked it just fine. He didn't like to rely on it too much, but this was one of those sticky situations he didn't have a choice in.

"Would you kindly come--out?" Going around that corner blind was not smart and he knew that. Whatever was back there he'd have to get out in the open.

She startled, hand still gripping the taser. Well, she thought she'd been being discreet about it, put apparently whoever that was happened to be particularly clever. It was also sentient, probably human, spoke English, and knew she knew he was there. Well, there went that. Frankly, as long as he wasn't an 'it' and 'it' wasn't about to eat her, she wasn't really concerned with the company. Maybe a bit concerned that he was snooping around such a dangerous place, but that's about where it ended ( ... )
