Somebody tell me why I did this?!! I get neurotically obsessive about disaster type situation movies so unless they're fantastically unlikely, like Cloverfield, I should avoid, avoid, avoid ( Read more... )

Yep, it's totally self inflicted.

And really depressing, since the general consensus was that if it happened for real...we're totally screwed. *sighs*

Think I'd rather have the Cloverfield beastie to contend with.

Yeah, I remember when we were in the cold war (Elementary School) and they used to have drills and we would hide under our desks and stuff. *snerk* I realize now in hindsight that was simply to make us feel better. Honestly, what is hiding under a desk going to do for say, radiation poisoning?! I'd rather be killed instantly by flying glass. (I'm in the USA)

I see what you mean - that's so totally pointless. I used to think it would be more merciful to go in the blast, as it would be virtually instantaneous...until I read somewhere that the detonation in Sarah's dream was actually the most realistic nuclear bomb scene ever filmed. It took a couple of minutes for them all to die. I guess it depends how close to ground zero you are.

When I was in primary school, they didn't teach us anything like that. Which is weird, because I read a book saying that Scotland was a strategic jumping off point for Russia to invade the rest of Europe.

*whines* I hate stuff like this! Why exactly are we having all these problems with Russia and Iran and everybody? Ok, idealistic and childlike, but it's a big world, big enough for everybody to have a little space without treading on everybody else's toes.

*slap*...lol

I'm not familiar with that series you were talking about, but I relate to that. My first ever disaster movie was something about the after effects of a nuclear war...which i will never get over...

*pets the hugglewolf for the slap*
