My brain exploded

Two weeks ago, I moved my drawing equipment and desk to an office in Ballard, where I've set up a small studio with a few other artists. The idea is that I'll work harder if I'm commuting someplace. So far, it's driven a huge uptick in productivity ( Read more... )

Wow that is crazy! But I'm not surprised that biking in Capitol hill caused problems. That is one steep area you live in! I know I was there last Halloween. So having a shared studio upped your productivity...that is good to know. I might try it someday.

Yeah, I can't recommend the studio thing enough. My output has literally doubled. And it only costs each of us a hundred bucks per month. So rad.

Well I wish I could share a space with someone as talented as yourself...I think that having other artists around that are as good as or better than yourself helps too.

You haven't posted stuff at your other blog...I think it would be good to at least let people know that you are still working on the comic.

BTW you mentioned that you would have distributed the book digitally if you had it to do over again. Why? I'm going to try and sell the semi secret project to a magazine as a regular feature so that wouldn't apply to this thing I'm doing, but I'd still like to hear your views.

Hey dude. Thanks for reminding me to post to the blog -- I have done that very thing.

As for the digital distribution thing -- I'm not sure a pure digital distribution method would pay the bills quite yet, but at some point it will be the predominant way that comics are sold. I kind of wish I'd drawn my comic for print, but in an aspect ratio and level of detail that would be easily portable to a digital format. In other words, the comics that I draw in the future will be made in as flexible a way as possible, so that they can be distributed in as many ways as possible. When everybody's buying their comics through the iBookstore and the creators are pulling down 70% of every copy sold, things are going to get very, very interesting.

Wow, glad it wasn't something worse. Hopefully you won't get the pain part of migraines either.

Boy, I hope that pain bit never shows up. Have you ever had a migraine?

I read something similar about George Lucas. Things got so stressful during the making of Star Wars that he started having chest pains.

Making a movie must be the express train to Stressville.

Glad you were okay, though!
