Man, I really like it. Is this a new approach for you? The lyrics are recognizable as yours, but I've never heard you sing like this before, and you seem to be using much more of a cluster-chord progression.

Also, there is a guy that plays all around town here that I bet you would love--he has this beautiful rolling midwestern voice, plays accordian, guitar, mandolin, and harmonica, and he sings majestic ballads I've never heard.

If you were a hotel, I'd lean on your doorbell

Do you know that one?

Here's a great stanza I ran across from a band that was playing near my house the other day:

'Cuz the dead don't mind
And the stars still shine
If Love and War go on forever

I love songs that are quotable like that. Of course, I like songs that work great in context, but often there are really good one liners that stand out.

One of my favorites is from a Tom Waits song "Come On Up to the House": All your cryin' won't do you no good / [...] / Come down off the cross we can use the wood

That's great. I love the scene with him and Iggy Pop in Coffee and Cigarettes.

Tom: Well... we could go to Taco Bell if that's more your style.
Iggy: You callin' me a Taco Bell kind of guy?

Eventually I am going to be able to combine my multitude of disparate influences into a focused enough stream to record and create more stuff. Can't say when it will be exactly since the inspiration floats through my head like the wind, but I'm patient. In the meantime, I and another guy I have been playing with for the past few months have been making some pretty good stuff. Next time we play, we should just put a mic out.
