Great start!
But, sadly, it looks as if Beruthiel's plan of escape might not be crowned with success, despite her uncanny new friend.
Or is there going to be a change of plan?

Hrm, kind of both of the above, in a way.

I enjoyed the premise of the story and your spunky female woman/child is delightful. Whenever you post more, I'll enjoy reading it.

Thank you! =)

(Your icon...I can't quite gather what's going on in it, but I'm strangely drawn to it?)

Ah - this is the head of an iron staircase dragon that I shared on my FB the other day. Aearwen posted the whole thing first. Let me see if I can slip it into my photobucket and put a copy of the full item below...

Eee, that's gorgeous! No wonder I was drawn to the part of it shown in your icon, I love sinuous dragons. Thanks much for sharing.

Cool!

It seems totally natural that extraordinary Middle Earth cats would be able to communicate like that.

Given the much debated presence of the fox near the beginning of Fellowship of the Ring who appears to be consciously observing the hobbits and thinking to itself, it's probably plausible. I may have a slightly...different explanation, however, which is more consistent with the general themes of my 'verse. >=D

Hee! This is great. I love how she bitches about Tarannon and how boring he is, and her plan to one away, and the fact that she's wearing a tablecloth. For some reason, the line, "This is the sort of thing I need to do now" really made me smile, because I could definitely identify with it. Not wearing a tablecloth, per se, but just kind of the "this is what my life has come to" sentiment of it. Oh, and also that she talks to a cat. Of course.

Can't wait to see where this goes!

Thank you!

When I was reading about Berúthiel and Tarannon Falastur in preparation for this story, it struck me that Tarannon sounds like some kind of, how shall we say, expansion-oriented imperialist cad. I didn't figure a woman whose people didn't have the best history with Gondor, and who was said to have hated the sea, would see anything good about her husband being the first "Ship-King." Like, maybe there was a legitimate reason the name Berúthiel which I highly doubt was her actual name) meant "angry queen."

Also, I'm glad you appreciated the tablecloth and the attendant dialogue, because (sans tablecloth) that line was pretty much a brief self-insert. XD

Ooh! I like the spunk and also the subtly creepy vibe. I'm looking forward to reading more.
