B2FreakingMeM!

I'm in a way better mood today.  I think it has more than a bit to do with the fact that I started my B2Me story last night.  Yes, singular, I'm just doing one story, which I anticipate might fall into the 10,000-20,000 word range if I do manage to finish what I start for once.  Among other things, I was feeling crappy that I wanted to start a new ( Read more... )

Am debating doing first person Mairon, which I have never done and I don't know if it's a good idea because his personality is so drastically different from mine that I always feel like it would be invasive and insensitive of me to presume to get inside his head.

Heh. Now that's a significant contrast to me. First person Sauron is one of my favorite self-indulgences. Which reminds me that I really ought to revisit the mouldering fell beast fic...

Your approach to B2FreakingMeM sounds like a very good one. As for starting one more story whilst WIPs linger? Have at it. Nothing wrong with that at all. :^)

Glad to hear your mood has lifted. I still bear scars from a few dark times during undergrad and grad school.

I think first person narration is easiest/most fun when one has a good degree of common ground with their narrator. Then again, what I evidently forgot about first person is that one can find something to relate to in most characters, and my Mairon was not so unfathomable as I thought. It’s his habitual confidence and lack of boundaries that worries me most, but fortuitously it began with him recounting one of his rare low points, so I didn’t have to deal point blank with that yet. Hopefully I’ll be comfortably situated in his headspace by the time all the shit hits the fan plot-wise.

Mouldering fell beast first person DM fic? That does sound like it bears revisiting. =D

Thank you. The good thing, relatively speaking, is that my more dire moods don’t last as long as they’ve been known to in the past.

Now this is a truism. There's always something to which the author can relate in a character she or he writes, and it sounds like you're honing in on that with Mairon.

I'm a classic ENTJ on the Briggs-Myers astrological divination personality categorizer, so Mairon's "taking over the world because I know better than anyone else" is not a stretch for me. :^D

*g* I'd most likely peg my Mairon as an ENTJ. Which really is not so very different from me, except for the E factor (that right there is a very significant difference...I'll figure it out though).
